More about this event...

Kilmarnock Football Club  hosted a major Show Racism the Red Card (SRTRC) seminar for 100 local primary school children at Rugby Park on Wednesday 11th March 2009.  Schools included Hillhead Primary, Onthank Primary, Mount Carmel Primary and Gargieston Primary.  The anti-racist seminar included a Q&A session followed by a screening of the Show Racism the Red Card DVD. The young people got the chance to question a panel of experts including Craig Bryson and Kevin Kyle about racism and its consequences.

Young people attending the seminar were provided with a bag of goodies including posters and magazines.

Killie Chairman Michael Johnston stated, "Kilmarnock Football Club is delighted to support this initiative and fully endorses its objectives. It is vital to get the message across to children at an early age that racial integration is essential for a healthy society in which everyone can prosper and enjoy equal treatment".

Billy Singh, Campaign Coordinator for Show Racism the Red Card in Scotland, said, "Show Racism the Red Card are extremely pleased to be working with Kilmarnock Football Club on this kind of event. The impact on the young people of meeting and listening to players in this setting is considerable. In our experience these kinds of events are very positive and leave a lasting anti-racist message with young people. We very much look forward to what will be a memorable event."
